New Kent’s track teams dominated Wednesday’s Colonial Conference 25 track championships, capturing titles in both the boys’ and girls’ portion of the meet held at New Kent.
The Trojans amassed 179.5 points to easily outdistance runner-up Poquoson’s 125.5. The Lady Trojans, meanwhile, finished with 129, well ahead of second place Warhill’s 107.5. The Trojans registered individual wins in five events while the Lady Trojans prevailed in three.
As expected, Griffin Kowal towered above the competition in pole vault, clearing 14 feet, six inches, while Joe Dixon uncorked a 46-foot heave to place first in shot. Gatling won the 110-meter high hurdles (18.01), and Morris took the 100 meters in 11.38. Andrew Carlin, meanwhile, pulled away heading into the final lap, breezing to a 9:55.01 clocking and first at 3200 meters.
