Charles City girls, boys finish in middle of pack at 10-team home meet

Charles City’s Robert Dobson won the boys’ 200-meter dash and helped the 4×100 meter relay team conquer that event as the Panthers finished fifth at an Apr. 26 home meet against nine other schools.
Dobson ran a career best 23.38 to win the 200-meter dash. Along with teammates Cameron Vaden, Steven Williams Jr., and Jordan Cotman, the quartet put together a season best 44.48 in the 4×100 meter relay. Dobson and Cotman both ran an automatic regional qualifying time in the 200-meter dash.
Charles City scored 50 points, finishing behind meet winner Middlesex (135.5), King William (117), Lancaster (96), and West Point (91). Rounding up the scoring on the boys’ side was Cumberland (28.5), King & Queen (25), Banner Christian (17), Grove Christian (12), and Richmond Christian (10).
On the girls’ side, Charles City girls earned a fifth-place finish by accumulating 16.5 points. Finishing ahead of the Lady Panthers were Middlesex (161), King William (124), West Point (118) and Lancaster (112.5). Richmond Christian’s 12 and King & Queen’s six rounded out the scoring.
