Charles City opens outdoor track and field season with fourth place finish at Northumberland

Charles City High School’s boys’ track and field team accumulated 23 points to finish fourth in an April 29 quad meet at Northumberland.

Charles City’s D’Angelo Smith emerged as the team’s top performer. Smith earned a trio of second place finishes in the triple jump (40’11”), 110-meter hurdles (17.53), and 300 meter hurdles (49.65). He also placed third in the long jump competition (18’6½”).

Other scorers for the Panthers were Justin Post-Parada placing third in the 400-meter dash (1:03.17), and the discus (74’2”), and fourth in the 800-meter run (2:58.36), and Dakotah Brinkley earning a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run (3:11.74).

Charles City finished behind meet winner Mathews (86), runners-up Rappahannock (52.5), and Northumberland (47.5).
