Massey, Hathaway wins highlight Lady Trojans placing third at home track meet

New Kent’s Lady Trojans got individual wins from Kori Massey and Julia Hathaway en route to finishing third at their May 12 Bay Rivers home contest.
Massey claimed first in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.84. Hathaway clocked a blistering 1:00.87 in the girls’ 400-meter dash to capture gold in the race.
New Kent’s 4×800 meter relay team clocked a time of 11:13.16 to win the opening race on their home track, while their 4×400 meter relay team also finished in the top position with a time of 4:21.20.
Tabb’s Lady Tigers won the meet with 144 points, followed by Jamestown’s 116 points. New Kent’s Lady Trojans strung together 103 points, good enough for third.
On the boys’ side, New Kent mustered up 52 points, good enough for a seventh-place finish on their home track.
Isaac Barber emerged as the top performer for the Trojans, placing second in the triple jump (39’8”) and third in the long jump (18’10”).
Grafton (144.5), Smithfield (90), and Tabb (79.5) rounded out the top three spots in the boys’ competition.
