Smith wins three events as Panthers finish third at King William track meet
Charles City’s D’Angelo Smith captured three victories as Charles City’s Panthers finished third at the May 20 track meet at King William.
Smith emerged victorious in the boys’ long jump (20’1½”), triple jump (40’8”), and 110-meter hurdles (17.66).
Charles City boys’ team accumulated 26 points at the event. Host King William won easily with 105 points, with Carver Academy placing second with 32 points, and King & Queen boys finishing in fourth with 16.
On the girls’ side, Alexis Williams snagged four victories as the lone Lady Panther finished second at the meet.
Williams won the 100-meter dash (13.41), 200-meter dash (29.62), long jump (14’9½”), and triple jump (35’6½”). She also placed second in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles (1:03.50).
Charles City’s Lady Panthers scored 28 points to finish as the meet runner-up. King William conquered the meet with 109 points, while King & Queen placed third with 18 points.
