Double event winner Hathaway pushes Lady Trojans to second place track meet finish

New Kent’s Julia Hathaway emerged as a double event winner as the Lady Trojans finished in a tie for second place at their May 26 home track meet.

Hathaway earned victories in the girls’ triple jump with a leap of 33’9” and captured the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.06.

The Lady Trojans accumulated 71 points, tying Grafton for second place in the contest. Tabb’s Lady Tigers were the runaway winner with 156.5 points.

On the boys’ side, Isaac Barber captured the Trojans lone win as the hosts pulled out a sixth-place finish.

Barber won gold in the boys’ triple jump competition, garnering a distance of 41’2” to win by half an inch over York’s Isaiah Limuel.

New Kent racked up 39.5 points at the Bay Rivers meet. Grafton captured first with 181 points, while Tabb (120.5) and Smithfield (92.5) finished second and third, respectively.
