New Kent’s Trojans continue to struggle on the pitch, remaining winless so far in the abbreviated 2021 season. Unfortunately for the hosts, things didn’t fair any better Tuesday night.

The visiting Lafayette Rams cruised to an 8-0 victory in the Bay Rivers District contest, dropping the Trojans record to 0-7.

Lafayette’s aggressiveness from the onset overwhelmed the hosts, as Ram forward Blake Lowery scored three minutes into the contest. Two minutes later Cannon Newell found the back of the net, forcing a switch at goalie for the Trojans.

While the change sparked a brief surge for the hosts, the momentum didn’t last long as Newell added two more goals. Lowery’s score at the 22:09 mark in the first half bestowed a 5-0 lead for the visiting Rams. Chip in an additional goal from Jacob Reid during stoppage time and Lafayette took a commanding 6-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Lowery scored goal number three, earning himself a hat trick to go alongside Newell’s hat trick for the visitors. One more goal by the visitors closed out the game via mercy rule.

New Kent’s final home game is scheduled for June 8.
