Eight runs in fourth inning contribute to New Kent’s shutout of Bruton
New Kent High School’s baseball team has continued to impress throughout the season. But it would take a big fourth inning in order to capture a victory at the June 2 Senior Night game against Bruton.
The hosting Trojans exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning as they propelled to a 9-0 shutout of the visiting Panthers for the win.
After a feeling out process for the first few innings, the hosts first run crossed the plate via a hit-by-pitch. New Kent’s Troy Bowman crossed the plate after a throwing error, and Jack Swynford duplicated the feat on a passed ball. Runners continued to cross the plate as the hosts captured the win as New Kent pitcher Nick Redman hurled a shutout.
The Trojans improve to 8-1 on the season.
