New Kent softball has no issues disposing Bruton’s Lady Panthers

When tight games come up later on the schedule, it’s good to have reliable players to contribute when they can. The Apr. 27 contest for the New Kent Lady Trojans as they hosted the visiting Bruton Lady Panthers allowed that talent to flourish.

Behind 15 runs in the bottom of the opening frame, New Kent thumped Bruton 21-1 to keep their undefeated record intact.

New Kent came out swinging, capitalizing on Bruton errors. On the offensive end, McKenna Mueller powered the Lady Trojans with a single, double, and triple. On the mound for the hosts, freshman pitcher Alline Alexander controlled the ball as she and the Lady Trojan defense had no issues with the visitors.

After the contest, New Kent Lady Trojans Head Coach Maria Bates talked about being able to see how her team responded to playing in different positions.

“It was good today because we have a lot of depth,” she commented. “Every girl plays three to four positions just in case something happens down the line. It was good to see them get a feel for those positions today.”

New Kent improves to 11-0.
