Branch earns bronze in boys’ triple jump at Group 3A State Indoor Track and Field Championships
New Kent County boys’ indoor track and field team accumulated 12 points, finishing 21st at the Group 3A Indoor State Track & Field championships held Feb. 27-28 at Liberty University.
Ellis Branch was able to earn a spot on the podium in the triple jump competition. His leap of 42’9” garnered him a third place finish. He also earned another point by finishing eighth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 36.24.
Ryan Wright accounted for the other points for the Trojans. He finished fourth in the pole vault competition with a clearance of 12’0”.
On the girls’ side, New Kent orchestrated a four-point performance, good enough to finish in a tie for 28th at the meet.
Gabrielle Butler was the only Lady Trojan participating at the state level. She earned a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter dash, posting a time of 43.38.
Heritage of Lynchburg’s girls’ and boys’ team both captured the team titles at the state competition.
