Fourteen individuals, including two men accused of a daytime burglary and two other men implicated in a robbery, have been indicted by a New Kent Circuit Court grand jury.

Convening on March 17, the grand jury indicted Eddie Lenard Akins, 19, of 3706 Vawter Ave. in Richmond, and Calvin Warren Knight, 21, of 2101 Beck Drive in Richmond, on one count each of burglary, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with a Jan. 18 break-in at a residence on Old River Road.

The two men and a third suspect, Jessica Monique Mosley, 20, of 4204 Mylan Road in Richmond, were questioned by sheriff’s deputies working on Jan. 18 in response to a report of trespassers.

Armed with a vehicle license number supplied by another resident, deputies stopped an SUV driven by Mosley near the scene of the break-in. Mosley was alone, but used a hand-held, two-way radio to contact the two men who emerged from nearby woods. All three were questioned and released.

A few hours later, the Old River Road homeowner discovered the break-in and notified police. Investigators theorized the two men had discarded items stolen from the house. Using bloodhounds, deputies found a duffle bag containing a video game system and a coin collection that belonged to the resident. The bag was discovered about 100 yards from the house.

The grand jury also indicted Nickolas James Burdge, 21, of 24750 Selma Road in Jetersville, and Lamarque Fulton Jones, 19, of 16331 Church St. in Amelia County, on one count each of robbery. The pair allegedly robbed Russell Wayne Ellis of his wallet and debit card on Feb. 18 at the Washington Burgess Inn on Route 33 in Eltham where Ellis was staying.

Amelia authorities arrested the two men on Feb. 22 after the debit card was traced to a purchase of goods in that county. Investigators say Ellis identified the two suspects as the robbers. No weapons were used in the incident.
