Winning 11 events paces NK in track

New Kent’s boys won 11 events while the girls prevailed in eight on the way to triumphs over three foes in non-district track at home on April 9.

The Trojans scored 141 points to Peninsula Catholic’s 53, 34 for Benedictine, and Middlesex’s 29. The Lady Trojans, meanwhile, totaled 111 to fend off Peninsula Catholic’s 92 while St. Gertrude’s and Middlesex trailed with 28 and 10, respectively.

Double individual event winners for New Kent emerged only on the girls’ side where Kayla Christian won the triple jump (34-8) and 200 meters (25.4) and Jamie Lull captured the 400 (63.9) and 3200 (12:06).

Other Lady Trojan winners were Kelly Downs in the 800 (2:41.2), Nicole Anderson in pole vault (7-0), and the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.

On the boys’ side, individual winners were Eric Lawler in pole vault (9-0), Malcom Jones in long jump (19-5 ½), Tedmund Dabney in discus (112-9), Paul Kearney in 110 high hurdles (15.9), Desmond Worelds at 100 meters (11.2), Chris Crocker in the 1600 (4:58), Austin Smith in the 400 (54.0), Ethan Emmons at 800 meters (2:03.6), and Michael Lull in the 3200 (10:54.6). Both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams prevailed.
