Bank of Essex team captures NK 4-H golf title

The Bank of Essex team of Mark Ware, Paul Erdman, Jason Turner, and Larry Burch won the 19th annual New Kent 4-H Golf Classic played April 18 at Brookwoods Golf Club in Quinton.

The event, organized by New Kent Cooperative Extension, raised $2,900 for the New Kent 4-H Scholastic Fund.

The winning foursome carded a 16 under par 56. Finishing one stroke back in second was the Windmill Realtors team of Ken Pair, Arthur Clarke, Kenny Harris, and John Lowery. Team Putt It (Charles Davis, Tommy Marvin, Burt Hodges, Dave Rolland) and Davis Produce (Paul Davis, Craig Pierce, Rick Forbes, Keith Hamm) tied for third at 13 under 59.

Other teams participating and their captains were Agricultural Education (Glenn Anderson), AutoQual of Richmond (Steve Arland), Baylands Federal Credit Union (Marvin Tiller), Brianwood Office Park (Brian Mikelaites), Charles City Forest Products (Thomas Evelyn), C&F Bank (Jim King), Colonial Farm Credit (Clay Roberts), Colonial Virginia Bank (Henry Haupt), FOLO REA RUS (Miles Foley), Gammon Well (Bill Gammon), Hayseed’s (Bill Hopke), J&L Hauling (Eric Lemons), John Black & Sons (Keith Black), Lynchburg Four (Brian Davis), New Kent EDA (Matthew Venerable), New Kent Golf Team (Chester Huffman), OASIS (Bobby Wilson), Paddy McSweet (Pete Sweet), Specialty’s Our Name (Utley Harrison), Wilson’s LLC (Davis Wilson), and Woody’s Gang (Woodrow White).
