Nine individuals, including two women who are alleged to have illegally obtained prescription painkillers while employed at a Charles City County medical office, have been indicted by a New Kent Circuit Court grand jury.

The grand jury, convening Monday, indicted Katia Shivawn Johnson, 27, of 9210 The New Road, and Shannan Trinette Woodley, 33, of 7700 Courthouse Road, on six counts each of embezzling prescription drugs.

Johnson worked as a medical assistant at Charles City Regional Health Services on Courthouse Road while Woodley was employed in the same office as a receptionist.

A State Police investigator’s report revealed that between March of 2007 and last January, Johnson allegedly called in five unauthorized prescriptions for herself and 14 for Woodley to the Rite Aid pharmacy in Providence Forge.
