Charles City teams finish fourth in Tri-Rivers track

Reynard Black and Chiquita Black posted double individual victories to spark Charles City’s track teams to fourth place finishes in the Tri-River District meet held May 13 at Charles City.

Reynard Black won the high jump (5-10) and long jump (20-5 ¾) to earn the meet’s MVP trophy on the boys’ side. His 20 points helped the Panthers amass 55 points.

Windsor edged Sussex 147-143 for the boys’ team title while Surry finished third with 66. Chesterfield Community and Franklin trailed Charles City with 24 and 22 points, respectively.

Chiquita Black, meanwhile, captured both the 100-meter hurdles (18.9) and 300 intermediates (55.7), scoring 20 of the Lady Panthers’ 58.5 points.

Windsor also won the girls’ meet with 162.5 points to Sussex’s 93. Surry placed third with 62.5 while Franklin came in fifth with 54.5.

For the Panthers, Greg Pinson placed fourth in 110-meter hurdles (19.7), fifth in intermediates (49.5), and sixth in triple jump (33-5).

Michael Jefferson claimed second in high jump (5-10) and third in long jump (19-4) while Trevor Jones took sixth in high jump (5-4) and Kevin Wallace placed fourth in long jump (19-3).

The Panther 4×100 relay team placed third in 46.4 while the 4×400 team took fourth in 4:10.5.

On the girls’ side, Krystal Wade finished fourth in both the 100 meters (tie 13.9) and long jump (13-1) and sixth in the 200 (29.6). Ebony Coles claimed sixth in both shot (24-3) and discus (57-10) while Hilary Wynn took third in triple jump (27-6) and tied for sixth in the 100 (14.9).

Cordaysia Robinson took second in high jump (4-4), Toni Harris finished third at 400 meters (70.9), and Lexus Adkins placed fifth in discus (70-7).

The Lady Panther 4×100 relay team came in third at 55.0.

Lady Panther coach John Christian earned Tri-Rivers girls’ coach of the year honors.
