New Kent’s age 12-15 recreational soccer team recently finished its third season with a 5-2-3 record.

The New Kent team consists of players age 12 and 13 and competes against five teams with older players, some already playing at the high school level.

New Kent coach L.B. Davis attributed his team’s success to what he termed “great teamwork, tremendous effort, and remarkable desire” to achieve.

“I am so very proud of our team this season,” he said in a press release. “Each week we competed against players that were older and bigger than our players, but our team refused to be intimidated.”

Davis said the team capitalized on quickness, ball handling skills, and strategy to overcome their size disadvantage. The team worked hard from start to finish and displayed a lot of heart, he said.

“It was truly a rewarding experience to be associated with such a special team this season,” he said. “These players are the future of New Kent soccer, and at this point the future looks bright.”
