Six indicted in Charles City

Six individuals have been indicted on at least one felony count each by a Charles City Circuit Court grand jury.

Convening on May 6, the grand jury indicted:

–William Harvey Hyer, 57, (address listed as Henrico Jail West), on one count of construction fraud. Between May 9 and Sept. 19 in 2001, Hyer allegedly accepted an advance payment from Warren Hampton for construction work and neither completed the job nor returned the money. Close to $8,000 is involved, county prosecutor Rob Tyler said.

–Elliott M. Charity, 46, of 12001 Mapsico Road in Charles City, on one count of malicious wounding. The charge stems from an alleged attack last Dec. 21 on Jonathan Crump.

–Tony Edward Martin, 36, of 3200 The Loop Road in Richmond, on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The charge is in connection with an alleged incident on Feb. 7.

–Calvin Barnes, 45, of 6020 Adkins Road in Charles City, on one count of unlawful wounding involving Jarvis Barnes. The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 12.

–Jessica Monique Mosley, 21, of 4204 Mylan Road in Richmond, and Calvin Wayne Knight, 21, of 3017 Dill Road in Richmond, on one count each of burglary, grand larceny of a firearm, and conspiracy to commit burglary. The charges stem from a Jan. 10 break-in at the home of Minnie Bates.
