New Kent JV football team unbeaten at 9-0

New Kent’s JV football team has just completed an outstanding season, finishing with a perfect 9-0 record.

The team was composed of 38 players with an equal split between freshmen and sophomores. New Kent outscored its opponents 258-40.

The JV Trojans were primarily a running team, averaging more than 250 yards per game on the ground. The offensive line did a great job of opening holes for a talented group of runners. Coach Mike Faus did a nice job of calling plays for the offense.

The JV Trojans were awesome on defense, shutting out five opponents and limiting the other four to a touchdown apiece. New Kent used a 4-4 alignment and got outstanding play from all positions. Coach Tim Pollock did an outstanding job of orchestrating the defense.

Hunter Stewart and Evan Canaday were brought up to the varsity and performed admirably. All members of the team got quality playing time.

Coach Ed Allen summed up the team, saying, “This team had great chemistry, tremendous heart, and they basically refused to lose.”

Team scores: NK 32 Tabb 8; NK 28 Warhill 0; NK 26 Bruton 6, NK 20 Lafayette 0; NK 34 Smithfield 20; NK 28 Southampton 0; NK 24 Poquoson 0; NK 22 Grafton 0; NK 44 Jamestown 6.
