Authorities in Charles City continue to search for an elderly county man who has managed to elude capture after being indicted on 15 sex counts involving two underage girls.

As of press time on Friday, Forrest Everett “Skeeter” Evans, 74, of 5901 Courthouse Road, remained on the run. Charles City sheriff’s investigator Jayson Crawley said Evans could be hiding in the Gloucester/Mathews area.

A Charles City Circuit Court grand jury indicted Evans on Nov. 13. The indictments stem from alleged sex acts involving two girls who were age seven and 10 at the time. In all, Evans faces 10 counts of aggravated sexual battery and five counts of forcible sodomy.

Two indictments charge that Evans “repeatedly committed aggravated sexual battery” against each girl during a period that spanned July through December in 2006. The other eight sexual battery indictments involve allegations from May through August of 2007. The five sodomy indictments involve only one of the girls and stem from allegations over the same time periods in both 2006 and 2007.

Late last week, Crawley said he continues to seek public help in locating Evans. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 829-9265 or Crimestoppers at 780-1000. Information leading to his capture could result in a reward of up to $1,000.
