NK grand jury indicts seven

Seven individuals have been indicted for various felony offenses by a New Kent Circuit Court grand jury.

Convening on March 16, the grand jury indicted:

–Anthony Rashad Allen, 21, of 989 Tuggle Road in Farmville, on one count of marijuana possession with intent to distribute. The alleged offense occurred last Nov. 11.

–Courtland Oniel Barrett, 36, of 1414 County St. in Portsmouth, on one count each of possession of a narcotic with intent to distribute, eluding police, and misdemeanor driving under the influence. Barrett was arrested following a police chase on Interstate 64 last Nov. 8.

–Ernest Lenwood Cotman Jr., 41, of 5413 Bradley Pines Circle Apt. E in Sandston, on one count of eluding police. The alleged offense occurred on Jan. 3.

–Maurice Cotman Sr., 42, of 7241 Sturgeon Point Road, Providence Forge, on one count of cocaine possession stemming from an alleged incident last Oct. 4.

–DeShun Naheem Scott, 35, of 2603 Brook Forest Terrace in Midlothian, on one count each of burglary, attempted grand larceny, and possession of burglary tools. Scott was arrested last Dec. 23 when he allegedly broke into a model home owned by Orleans Homebuilders in the Patriot’s Landing subdivision and attempted to steal a flat screen television.

–Jarrett Andrae Washington, 26, and Alyssa L. Galimore, 20, both of 2002 Ridgemont Road in Richmond, on one count each of burglary and grand larceny. The pair allegedly broke into a house owned by Madelyn Crowell last Oct. 31 and stole an IBM computer hard drive, two CD burners, and a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer.
