Defendants accept plea deals
Two defendants accepted plea deals presented by the commonwealth during Charles City Circuit Court on Dec. 21.
Lisa Ann Jordan, 37, of 202 Patriots Village Court, West Point, accepted an agreement to plead guilty to two counts of credit card larceny and one count of credit card theft. Another count of credit card theft was dropped.
Jordan admitted that on a variety of dates from Dec. 23, 2011 to April 1, 2012 she used cards belonging to Servpro owner David J. Butler, Nina Butler, and Barbara Lucy. Jordan said she paid personal bills using the cards. Those bills included paying a lawyer representing her on similar crimes in a neighboring jurisdiction.
The plea agreement calls for Jordan to pay $24,369.74 in restitution. A pre-sentence report is being prepared and she will return to court on March 5 to determine if she will serve time in jail.
In an unrelated case, a Charles City man will spend four and a half months in jail for possessing cocaine.
James McClinton Jones, 39, of 11771 Canora Lane, Ruthville, agreed to a deal presented by commonwealth’s attorney Rob Tyler.
In a summary of evidence, Tyler said Jones set foot on the property of Crewe’s Place on Church Lane after being banned by the owner. A deputy warned him to leave. Jones complied but later returned. The deputy then arrested Jones for trespassing and after searching him, found cocaine in his pockets.
Judge Thomas B. Hoover sentenced Jones to five years in jail with four years and seven and a half months suspended.
