Adkins seeks 74th district bid

Stephen R. Adkins, a former Charles City School Board Member, has announced his bid to seek nomination of the Democratic Party for election of the 74th seat of the Virginia House of Delegates in the June 9 primary election.

After retiring from a human resources job in the private sector, Adkins has served as Chief Deputy Director of the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management under the terms of former Governors Tim Kaine and Bob McDonnell.

“Education, sustainable, safe economic development, and improvements in secondary roads are paramount importance to me,” Adkins said in a press release. “The roads in Charles City and Eastern Henrico pose serious safety concerns for bicyclists. The roads have many ‘blind curves’ and little or no shoulders.

“I pledge to serve in a way that is both transparent and honorable,” Adkins concluded.
