Survivor Day programs in CC, NK is June 13

Central Virginia Emergency Management Alliance (CVEMA) will host its sixth annual Survivor Day on Saturday, June 13, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at locations in central Virginia, including Charles City and New Kent.

The event is focused on providing citizens ways to prepare in case of emergencies and disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and other hazards. Attendees will learn how to survive their home without power for at least 72 hours and what to take with them should they need to leave their home.

Classes in Charles City will be held inside the auditorium of the Government and Administration building, while classes in New Kent will take place at New Kent High School.

Registration is required and opened to interested people on a first come, first serve basis. Registered attendees who complete the course will receive a free backpack with survivor kit supplies (limit one per household).
