New Kent Parks & Recreation to join in NRPA 30th anniversary celebration

New Kent County Parks and Recreation will join other localities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Park and Recreation month this July.

Created by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the celebration is to showcase the impact parks and recreation has in every community.

“New Kent County Parks and Recreation supports the NRPA pillars of conservation, health and wellness, and social equity,” said Kimberly Turner, Director of Parks and Recreation for New Kent. “We are excited that New Kent will celebrate Park and Recreation Month through exploring arts, sports, fellowship, celebrations and more.”

New Kent Parks and Recreation will also be having a 15-year celebration of service. Planned events include a coloring contest, poster contest, and photo contest to engage residents as well as other birthday celebrations.
