Assault during home invasion leads to arrests in New Kent
New Kent Sheriff’s Office has arrested three individuals who allegedly assaulted a juvenile while allegedly burglarizing a home in the county.
Comfort L. Goody, 18, and Bonnie S. Venable, 28, both of the 5100 block of Hemlock Road, Quinton, and Ahmad A. Hutchins, 19, of the 9800 block of Tunstall Road, New Kent, were arrested on July 7 after the trio allegedly burglarized a home in the 6300 block of Lakeshore Drive.
According to the arrest report, the three suspects entered the residence in an attempt to remove belongings of the victim. Upon entering, they encountered the juvenile victim. Goody and Venable allegedly assaulted the victim during the crime while Hutchins observed. According to the report, the victim and alleged offenders knew each other. The suspects were arrested on July 10.
Goody and Venable are each charged with one count of burglary and assault & battery. Hutchins was charged with a single count of burglary. Venable was released on a recognizance bond, while Goody was being held on a $1,000 secured bond and Hutchins was being held with no bond.
In an unrelated incident, two men who allegedly committed an assault over the Independence Day holiday weekend turned themselves into authorities after a warrant was issued for their arrest.
Gilbert F. Bowman Jr., 37, of the 10000 block of Adkins Road, Charles City, and Hawkins L. Bowman, 31, of the 14000 block of Doctors Creek Road, Lanexa were both arrested on one charge of assault and battery. According to the incident report, the alleged assault took place at Lakeside Restaurant in Lanexa on July 5. Both men turned themselves in the following day. Both men were released on their own recognizance and were scheduled to appear in New Kent General District Court on July 14.
