Delays on Eltham Bridge, Interstate 64 next week in New Kent

Motorists traveling between New Kent to West Point will experience delays next week in Eltham.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will inspect the Eltham Bridge from Aug. 24-28. Alternating lane closures will occur between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

In other VDOT activities in New Kent, paving will close down lanes on eastbound Interstate 64 during the overnight hours.

On Aug. 23, the right lane between mile marker 221 and 223 will be closed from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. for paving activities. More repairs will take place from mile marker 222 to 224 on Aug. 24-27, beginning at 7 p.m. and concluding at 6 a.m.

Drivers are expected to prepare for the delays and adjust time schedules to travel or choose an alternative route.
