Fourth annual Sarah’s Memorial golf tournament slated for Sept. 25
The fourth annual Sarah’s Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Club at Viniterra.
The tournament is held in honor of Sarah Lindsey, a former New Kent middle school teacher who died of adrenal cancer on Nov. 6, 2011 at the young age of 31.
The golf tournament serves as a fundraiser to provide a scholarship to a graduating senior at New Kent High School in memory of the former New Kent student and teacher. Past tournaments have yielded more than $50,000 toward a scholarship endowment at the College of William and Mary.
Entry fee for the tournament is $400 per team (includes green/cart fees, box lunch, barbecue dinner) with prizes available in contests that include a hole-in-one on a designated hole that could win a new vehicle. Sponsorships are also available, ranging from $100 to $1,000. Donations are also accepted.
Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. For more information on this event or to register, contact Patrict Evelyn at 512-8150 or pevelyn@verizon.net.
