Local sheriff’s offices advise motorists of school opening on Sept. 8

New Kent Sheriff’s Office and Charles City Sheriff’s office are reminding motorists that area schools will be back in session starting on September 8.

Motorists are asked and advised to be extra cautious in travels throughout the area as students will be at bus stops waiting to load on and off their school buses. With the excitement of a new school year, students may not be paying attention to their proximity to the road as they wait for the bus or as they exit the school bus when they return home.

Remember as you travel to please slow down and allow a greater reaction time when approaching bus stops or stopped school buses. Please watch out for our children.
