Charles City County High School’s Army JROTC “Panther” Battalion once again received the pleasure of presenting the national colors during pre-game ceremonies at FEDEX Field in Landover, MD, as part of the Washington Redskins versus Detroit Lions preseason NFL contest.

The Washington Redskins organization granted the opportunity for the Charles City JROTC during the Aug. 20 preseason game in front of 80,000 spectators.

Started as a tradition in 1997, this is the sixth time the organization has posted colors for the Washington Redskins. Charles City High School’s JROTC is the only unit to ever receive this honor.

Cadets participating this year were Brandon Adkins, Tyler DuVall, Miles Ragin, Kaitlyn Singer, and Aaron White-Cook. SFC Steward Greene accompanied the cadets on their trip.

The cadets were able to meet members of the Redskins as well as Super Bowl Champion Doug Williams. The cadets also toured historical monuments and grounds of Washington D.C. as part of their trip.

Charles City JROTC would like to thank the Charles City Ruritan Club, Charles City school board, and the support of the community during their trip to represent the county and Charles City High School.
