Letter to the Editor: Says Charles City needs its own public library

By Community Member | October 1, 2015 1:11 am

My name is Gordon Templin and I am 12 years old. I would like to address the issue of the Charles City public library. One of our elected officials has said that we do not need a public library because we can use our smart phones to look things up. This is not the case. Not everyone has a smart phone and not everybody has access to the internet. In fact, the best internet connection I can get is at the library we have now which will disappear if we don’t vote for a new library.

The room for the library being used now is borrowed and can be taken back at any time. Also, the library has librarians who have helped me find out things that I need to know for school projects. A lot of the stuff on the internet isn’t really true and the librarians know which sites are good for me to use. There are also a lot of books to read. Books are cool. There are also movies that you can take home and watch for free.

So please, vote yes on the library. We need one.
