Letter to the Editor: Supports Chalmers as District 5 supervisor in New Kent
We are writing to say we support Jack Chalmers as a write-in candidate for District 5 supervisor in New Kent.
We have known Jack for about 15 years. He is an honorable and ethical person. Jack believes in taking care of his neighbors and has proven this when he helped residents of Chickahominy Shores, Colonial Harbor Marina, and Turners Neck.
We had problems for years with Fanny’s Creek flooding and closing South Waterside Drive. Jack worked with county officials, our supervisor, and VDOT to get the road raised above flood level. He also visited the site, noting new guardrail had been installed, making it difficult for two cars to drive over Fanny’s creek. Jack contacted VDOT, pointed this out to them, and they adjusted the guardrail. He also continued to work with problems caused by the Walker’s Dam project, pushing Newport News Waterworks to get the temporary dam removed and even met with them on the issue to stop flooding.
Jack Chalmers listens to his neighbors and will be a great representative for District 5. Please write-in his name on Nov. 3.
