Letter to the Editor: Accomplishments by McLaughin merit vote for NK sheriff

Joe McLaughlin Jr. is well-respected by all of his superiors and subordinates alike. They know he has their back no matter what the situation may be or what they are confronted with.

He has been employed with New Kent Sheriff’s Office since June 30, 1981. He has been second command for over 20 years, serving and supervising every position within the sheriff’s office.

McLaughlin has a vast of training, certifications, and awards including graduating from Virginia Forensic Academy, DEA Basic Narcotics and Financial Investigations, and both basic and advanced criminal investigation knowledge. He is a master accreditation assessor and has occupied the role of the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commissioner.

Your vote for Deputy Joe McLaughlin for sheriff will insure the safety for our community and the very efficient sheriff’s department that we have enjoyed under the leadership of outgoing sheriff F.W. “Wakie” Howard Jr.
