Letter to the Editor: Says illusion created about New Kent Sheriff’s Office
I am writing because it appears that some people are trying to create an illusion that issues exist within the New Kent Sheriff’s Office.
As a 22-year veteran of the department, I am here to clarity that it is only an illusion. Under the leadership of Sheriff F.W. Wakie Howard Jr. and Chief Deputy Joe McLaughlin Jr., the sheriff’s office is one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in the commonwealth of Virginia. The department is also well known throughout the United States and has received many state and national awards. The sheriff’s office is frequently called upon to assist other agencies in the areas of training, accreditation, and policy development.
Joe McLaughlin has dedicated over 40 years of citizens of New Kent. Whether it was through the Quinton Volunteer Fire Department or New Kent Sheriff’s Office, he has served the community and is currently serving as chief deputy of the sheriff’s office. I am confident he will continue to advocate for the citizens while moving the county forward.
I am requesting your vote for Chief Deputy McLaughlin because he is the best man for the job. Please vote Joe on Nov. 3.
