“The Spider” to be presented by New Kent Stagehands in November

New Kent Stagehands will present “The Spider” by Fulton Oursler and Lowell Brentano over a two-weekend span in November.

Featuring mayhem, murder, and magic, “The Spider” is a murder mystery that involves audience participation. The show opened on Broadway in 1927 and now, local talent is bringing the show to New Kent.

The cast is led by Phillip Ramirez, Timothy Mathis, Rick Fowler, Doug Shuler, Elizabth Hodges, Jeffrey Phillips, Jean Hoffer, Chance Hogge, Marty Slaughter, and Steve Russell. Also appearing are Mark Fulcher, Tamika Hathaway, Amy Jo Martin, Martha Martin, Sherry Russell, J.R. Skypeck, Jim Taber, Kristin White, and Grace Woodward.

The show is directed by Karen hill and produced by Martha Martin. Peter Hill (set design), Sharon Whitman (sound design), and Marty Slaughter (set décor) also helped with the production.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21. A Sunday matinee performance will be held on Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. All shows will be held in the New Kent Middle School auditorium.
