Local residents awarded scholarships from RCC

Four New Kent residents and one Charles City resident were recognized and awarded scholarships by Rappahannock Community College on Oct. 28.

Rachel Cashin, Emily Kuhn, Timothy Mathis, and Kerri Meeks of New Kent, and Stormie Miles of Charles City, were five of the 137 students administered scholarships by Rappahannock Community College’s Education Foundation.

Scholarship recipients will use awarded money towards furthering their education in their respective fields. Featured speaker Sherika Charity, coordinator for financial aid and veterans’ affairs, said the scholarships were to show as a “thank you” to those who invested time, effort, and money in helping the college grow and develop as both individuals and a part of the community.
