Drive-by shooting leads to arrest in New Kent
A Barhamsville man was arrested after he allegedly took part in a drive-by shooting on Nov. 10.
Charles W. Lipscomb, 46, was arrested on one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting at an occupied dwelling, shooting from a vehicle, and misdemeanor reckless handling of a firearm.
According to the police report, New Kent Deputy Wyatt Johnston responded to a call of reported gun shots in the area of the 15000 block of Rockahock Road. The deputy interviewed witnesses at the scene and recovered physical evidence. After concluding the interview and an investigation, Johnston arrested Lipscomb for the alleged offense. A firearm was recovered from the incident and sent to the state lab for forensic processing. Lipscomb was being held without bond.
In other New Kent arrests by the sheriff’s department:
–Chad J. Freeman, 30, of Virginia Beach on one count of child endangerment and misdemeanor reckless driving. According to the arrest report, Freeman was driving a vehicle on Interstate 64 at a speed that exceeded 100 miles per hour. When pulled over by a New Kent deputy, the officer noticed an 11-month old child in the vehicle. After an investigation, Freeman was arrested for child endangerment and reckless driving. He was being held without bond.
–Christopher W. Leonard, 48, and Thomas H. Richardson, 49, both of Williamsburg, each on one count of grand larceny. On Sept. 11, several items were confiscated from Heath Industrial Park. An investigation led to the identification of two alleged suspects, linking them to the crime. Leonard was arrested on Nov. 10 and Richardson on Nov. 11, with both being held without bond.
–Felipe Ramirez-Torres, 39, of New Kent, on one count each of burglary, assault, and brandishing a firearm. Ramirez-Torres allegedly entered a residence located off Poindexter Road, assaulting a person while brandishing a firearm. He was arrested on Nov. 15 and is being held without bond.
