A New Kent man will spend three months in jail after accepting a plea agreement during Monday morning New Kent Circuit Court proceedings.

Zakary Egan Perkins, 19, entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor (originally misdemeanor sexual battery). One charge of carnal knowledge was dropped.

In a summary of evidence provided by special prosecutor Clay Blanton, on May 16, 2015, a private party was held at Burks Farm in Providence Forge. The party, consisting of both girls and boys, ended and each gender was separated to their own sleeping area. During the night, two campers heard noise and made the adults supervising the get-togeter aware of it. AAn adult male entered the house and saw Perkins and the victim on the floor in the same room. Blanton commented that a sexual act had taken place and that the girl told the defendant she was 16 years old, which was not her real age.

Under the plea agreement, Perkins received a 12-month sentence with all but three months suspended.

In an unrelated case, a Virginia Beach man will spend a year in prison for forging the name of someone else on a Virginia Summons.

Mark Anthony Malone Sr., 30, of the 1100 block of Old Clubhouse Road, entered guilty pleas to one count each of forgery of a public record and driving revoked. One charge of uttering was dropped. Malone admitted he forged his name on a summons after a traffic stop on July 3.

Under the plea agreement, he received a five-year sentence on the forgery conviction with all but one year suspended. All five years on the uttering charge were suspended.
