Smithfield tops New Kent 6-3 in boys tennis

New Kent won two of three doubles matches but only one singles contest as the host Trojans fell 6-3 to Smithfield’s Packers in Wednesday afternoon tennis.

Singles: Baylor (S) d. Ashford 6-0, 6-1; Espenshade (S) d. Edmonds 6-4, 6-3; Barlow (S) d. Frizzell 6-4, 6-4; Lewis (S) d. Squares 6-1, 6-3; Sorenson (NK) d. Robinson 6-1, 6-1; Bateman (S) d. Estis 6-4, 7-5.

Doubles: Ashford-Edmonds (NK) d. Baylor-Espenshade 8-8 (9-8); Barlow-Lewis (S) d. Frizzell-Squares 8-3; Simmons-Sorenson (NK) d. Bateman-Jenkins 8-2.
