Hero-New Kent Strong winners

Winners in the annual HERO-New Kent Strong contests at all four county schools received awards during Monday's New Kent School Board meeting. Sponsor representatives on hand to present the awards were Sgt. Brandon Jenkins (New Kent Sheriff's Office), Steve Rula (Kip Kephart Foundation), and Debbie Richards (New Kent Junior Woman's Club). School officials congratulating recipients included Superintendent David Myers, board chairman Sarah Grier Barber, and Watkins assistant principal Patricia Kern. Contest categories included flags, banners, essays, commercial/public service announcement videos, 2D posters, and door decorations all on the theme "How to be New Kent Strong and stand up against bullying."
