Man pleads guilty to ammunition possession after execution of search warrant
Resulting from a search warrant executed on his home by Henrico County’s Sheriff’s Office, a Quinton man accepted a plea deal in New Kent Circuit Court for possessing ammunition in his residence.
James Earl Glenn, 35, of the 5700 block of Pine Fork Road, pled guilty to an amended charge of possession of ammunition by a nonviolent felon (originally possession of a weapon by a nonviolent felon) during June 13 morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.
In a summary of evidence provided by Commonwealth’s Attorney Linwood Gregory, on July 22, 2015, a New Kent deputy received from Henrico Sheriff’s Office a call to assist with the execution of a search warrant in the defendant’s home that stemmed from an investigation. After Glenn was detained, another occupant of the residence granted officers permission to search the home. Upon inspection, guns and ammunition were discovered in the home. Glenn, a convicted felon, said the weapons and ammunition belonged to his grandfather with the exception of one gun.
Under the plea deal, Glenn received a five-year sentence for possessing the ammunition with three years suspended (two years to serve).
In other Monday morning circuit court proceedings:
–Courtney Marie Collier, 20, of the 9000 block of Basswood Drive, Quinton, entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of a controlled substance (amphetamine) as part of a plea agreement. In a summary of evidence, on Feb. 20, a deputy noticed the headlight and taillight on Collier’s vehicle were out upon exiting a gas station. After the traffic stop, the deputy inquired if he could search the vehicle. The defendant granted permission and as the officer searched, Collier said there was a 30-milligram Adderal pill in the vehicle that she received from a friend. After the deputy located the pill, Collier was placed into custody.
Under the agreement, no formal finding was rendered and Collier will be registered into the first offender’s program.
–Keyvon J. Johnson, 23, currently of Henrico Jail East, accepted a plea deal and entered no contest pleas to one count each of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and an amended charge of misdemeanor simple assault (originally assault and battery on a law enforcement officer). In a summary of evidence, on Oct. 5, 2015, Johnson refused to put his hands through the food slot after he was hitting the door with a sock containing soap bars. When officers went inside to extract him, the object was used as a weapon and hit two officers, prompting the charges.
Under the agreement, he received a 12-month sentence with six months suspended on the felony assault and battery charge. All 12 months on the misdemeanor charge were suspended.
