Emile Joseph Plante Jr.

Emile Joseph Plante Jr., 91, of New Kent and formally of Faber, died Saturday Sept. 22, 2012 at the Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville.

He was born Nov. 10, 1920 in New Hampshire, a son of the late Emile J. Plante Sr. and Lucy Fairbanks Plante. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth Rose Murchie Plante.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and a retired machinist from Reynolds Metals with over 20 years of service. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at New Kent and a member of Rockfish Masonic Lodge 108 AF&AM.

He is survived by his son, Donald W. Plante of New Kent; two daughters, Mary Jane Conkling of Gloucester and Judith P. Burke-Hauck of Mechanicsville; one sister, Hattie Copeland of Richmond, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Sept. 27 at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Faber with Pastor Jim Wilson and Pastor Bob Lane officiating with interment in the Rock Spring Cemetery at Faber.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Nelson Co. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 44, Faber, Virginia 22938 or the Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church, 614 Shiloh Loop, Faber, Virginia 22938.
