Bridge repairs in New Kent, Charles City top VDOT projects

Repairs to bridges dominate Virginia’s Department of Transportation (VDOT) projects this upcoming week in Charles City and New Kent.

–Aug. 1-4: The Benjamin Harrison Bridge connecting Charles City and Prince George will have alternating lane closures from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. as part of the elevator replacement project. Delays are expected.

–Aug. 4: Interstate 64 eastbound at mile marker 223 from 12 a.m.-4 a.m. will have slow rolls lasting 15 minutes each for bridge repairs.

–Aug. 5: Interstate 64 eastbound at mile marker 220 (West Point) from 12 a.m.-4 a.m. will have slow rolls lasting 15 minutes each for bridge repairs.
