Attempted burglary suspects among six indicted by Charles City grand jury
Two individuals who allegedly attempted to burglarize homes in Charles City were indicted during Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court.
Jalen Joelle Johnson, 24, of the 1100 block of Butternut Drive, Hopewell, and Dandre Khalil Wilson, 20, of the 10000 block of Iron Wood Drive, Prince George, were each indicted on two counts of breaking and entering and one count of possession of burglary tools. Johnson also received a misdemeanor indictment of carrying a concealed weapon.
According to the indictment, Johnson and Wilson drove to two residences on Cattail Road and attempted to enter a garage on July 1. When one homeowner came outside to confront the suspects, they fled the scene. The two were later apprehended and gloves, masks, a hammer, and a gun were discovered in their vehicle.
Four other people were the recipients of indictments handed up by the grand jury:
–Michael Darnell Bridges, 40, of the 4600 block of Jenell Crescent Ct., Henrico, on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The indictment claims that a conservation officer asked Bridges and two other men to see their fishing licenses on July 31. The officer allegedly saw the defendant move an item to another spot in an attempt to hide it, and upon inspection, revealed a .451c/.410 Taurus revolver.
–Carl James Hunt, 49, of the 300 block of South Park Drive, Petersburg, on one count each of construction fraud and misdemeanor working without a license. On May 12, 2015, Hunt allegedly received a $1,500 payment to complete renovations on a home belonging to Juanita Thorne that he never performed.
–Brenda A. Jones, 36, of the 10000 block of Barnetts Road, Charles City, on one count each of breaking and entering and misdemeanor petty larceny. Jones allegedly broke into the home of Fara Adkins and stole jewelry on May 9.
–Larry Taylor, 50, of the 900 block of 37th Street, Newport News, on one count of felony failure to appear. Taylor allegedly didn’t appear for a scheduled Jury trial on Oct. 28.
