CC 8th in own invitational

Daron Jones, Jaelen Williams, and Avery Jones accounted for 31 points for the Charles City Panthers en route to an eighth place finish at the third annual Charles City Invitational track meet on March 30.

Williams earned a pair of third place finish in a pair of events. His throw of 39’6¼” in the shot and launching of the discus 113’¼” earned bronze in both.

Daron Jones finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 41’6”. He also accumulated points with a fourth place finish in the high jump (6’0”) and fifth place in the 110 high hurdles (16.66). His clearance in high jump automatically qualifies him for the Group A state track and meet at Radford University in June.

Avery Jones earned the remaining points for the Panthers with a fourth place finish in the high jump (5’10”).

Twenty-four teams attended the growing meet. Brunswick boys’ claimed the top spot with 99 points, while on the girls’ side, Henrico took home the trophy with 83 points. Charles City girls did not score during the meet.
