Grant awarded to help reestablish food pantry in Charles City
A grant made by the Dominion Foundation will be used to help reestablish the food pantry in Charles City.
The Dominion Foundation has presented Quin Rivers Community Action Agency a $5,000 grant to assist with the purchase of food supplies and hiring of a staff member to run a permanent food pantry in Charles City. Quin Rivers serves more than 11 localities, including Charles City and New Kent.
“We know that there’s a great need for families to have ready access to nutritional food in the area and our goal of a permanent food pantry will assist the most vulnerable members of our service area,” said Quin Rivers Executive Director Jack Lanier in a press release. “This generous grant from the Dominion Foundation will have a significant impact on the health and well-being of many adults and children in our region.”
The grant will also be used to purchase food for the mobile food pantry that feeds up to 300 individuals each month.
