By Andre Jones | January 3, 2017 12:34 pm

Renderings were handed down in two cases during Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court:

–Jason McCoy Bell, 22, of the 4900 block of Shop Street, Richmond, received formal sentencing to a reduced charge of misdemeanor petty larceny (originally grand larceny). In April 2014, Bell entered a plea agreement where he admitted to stealing a firearm and selling it to a pawn shop. Under that plea agreement, if he made substantial payments towards restitution, the charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor. The defendant had his charge reduced but must continue to make payments towards restitution. Bell also received a 12-month sentence with all time suspended.

–Brenda A. Jones, 36, of the 10000 block of Barnetts Road, Charles City, accepted a plea deal to one count each of burglary and misdemeanor petty larceny.

In a summary of evidence, on May 9, 2016, one of Jones’ former neighbors returned home to find some of her jewelry missing. The victim decided to go to a pawn shop where she discovered her jewelry had been stolen. She contacted authorities who later interviewed Jones who admitted to stealing the jewelry and selling it.

Under the agreement, Jones received a 10-year sentence with all but seven months suspended on the burglary charge. All 12 months on the petty larceny conviction were suspended.
