Letter to the editor: Coming to America is a privilege, not a right

Coming here to the United States is not a right. It is a privilege that should be respected and honored. No one has a right to demand it.

A country without defined, preserved, and defended borders is not a country. Every sovereign country has a right to determine who they will allow to come visit, stay or become a citizen. It is not about being racist, bigots, or discriminating in any other way.

The United States is facing a threat to our freedom, liberty, our very culture, and its safety and security.

It is not about someone’s religion or nationality. Most will agree that Muslims and Islamist are not all terrorists. But most terrorists are of Islamic faith and most are Muslim or are converted to being a Muslim. That is a fact.

It has been said that even though gun regulations and controls contradict our second amendment rights, if the controls save one life it is worth it. If we place a moratorium on those who are Islamic, Muslims that have issues and problems in their vetting saves one life, shouldn’t it be the right thing to do?

European countries are facing horrific acts from a large number of Islamic Muslim refugees and immigrants that have overwhelmed their populations. We have seen their women raped, buildings burned, vehicles destroyed, people stabbed, shot, run over by trucks and general chaos in their streets. If lessor numbers we are beginning to see the same in the United States. Is this what we want here too?

We have reasons to be very afraid and President Trump is trying to preserve, protect, and defend our country as he is sworn to do. It is about time someone does.

Yes, we are a nation of refugees. Every citizen’s family tree has a refugee in it. But in my 78 years I know of no other refugees, immigrants other than Islamist, Muslims that called for the Death of America. Damn this political riotousness.
