Six Trojans named to All-Bay Rivers baseball first team

Seven New Kent players from the Trojans’ district co-championship baseball team have been chosen as All-Bay Rivers District performers, including six named to the first team.

Catcher Nick Valentino, second baseman Jake Countiss, shortstop Mason Downer, center fielder Dakota Oxendine, pitcher Matt Metheny, and designated hitter Kevin Karaffa have been named to the first team while outfielder Dylan Walton is a second team selection. Trojan coach Ronnie Cox is the district’s coach of the year.

Despite finishing in a tie for second, New Kent’s Lady Trojan softball team did not receive an All-Bay Rivers first team selection. Shortstop Karley Allen, pitcher Marisa Bush, and center fielder Brittany LaPrade were named to the second team while second baseman Peyton Fleming and first baseman Kristen Saunders received honorable mention.
