Buchanans named NK fair marshals

New Kent County Fair is proud to announce the 2013 Grand Marshals for this year are the mother and son duo of Phyllis and Michael Buchanan.

They will serve as parade Grand Marshals on Saturday, September 21, 10 a.m.

Phyllis (Moni) Buchanan is a retired nurse who then volunteered at New Kent Schools in clinics and also worked with special education classes for 13 years. She currently is part of the Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS auxiliary team.

Michael Buchanan has lived in New Kent since 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves from 1979 until 1999. For the past 13 years, he has volunteered with the Providence Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad as an EMT and driver. He has also been a member of the Charles City Volunteer Fire and Rescue since 2010 and was a member of the Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS as an EMT/firefighter.
