New Kent County Fair queens (above) pose for a royal picture after the grand parade during opening ceremonies on Sept. 21 at Colonial Downs. Below, Tamika Hathaway displays prize-winning eggs, flowers, and canned goods on her way to claiming first place in the adult division of the fair’s annual sweepstakes competition. At bottom, a pair of young jousters battle it out to determine who is the mightiest of warriors at the inflatable pit. Other attractions at the fair included a camel ride, an animal farm, onstage performances by musicians and magicians, and harness racing.
